Mexico

Mexico is quite a peaceful place considering the strife and unrest that seems to be plaguing some countries in the world.

Dear Tom,

Long time no hear! I trust everything is fine back there and everyone is well. As for me I have never felt better. I am working and trying to make same bread after blowing a couple of grand travelling widely in the U.S & Caribbean.

I am trying to get some money together and take off and try my luck in Brazil. I have heard a lot about Brazil and have always been very interested in going there. And it has one of the best economies in latin America and is booming and will continue to do so in the next few years. And besides I dig the Brazilians, probably the only multi racial integrated country in the world. And I like their music, culture and Carnivals etc. And maybe at last I will be able to really work and so some serious painting.

I hear England is in trouble again economically (tighten ones belt today for prosperity tomorrow!) How many times have I heard that. I hear that things are pretty bad over there, but maybe now, and I hope the English will wake up and start competing and living with the rest of the world instead of being such an exclusive isolated and complacent British club!

I hope also that the British soldiers get out of Ireland. There has been enough violence, maiming and bloodshed and one Vietnam is more than enough. And now it pairs me to hear that are checking bombs around all over the place in London. Once again it is the innocent people who are suffering.

I sincerely hope things will be better very soon and that a remedy for all these problems will be found. Mexico is quite a peaceful place considering the strife and unrest that seems to be plaguing some countries in the world.

Are you still holding the same position with the gas board? And is Les still in the construction business. And have Ted and Ron graduated yet from collecting pennies from gas meters!! And is Dennis still in the vegetable and fruit business providing one eats ones share of fruits and vegetables. Are there any new kids in the family and how are the present ones doing. I will wait until I get to Brazil and unite with a black woman and have a mulato child, it will be my contribution to the new world, a world that has taught me a lot and given me a lot of fun and happiness also a pretty good living except I don’t have much money.

I am in good health and have stopped smoking some three years ago (even pot but I don’t mind it sometimes) I try to eat healthy food, and exercise. swimming mostly. In fact whenever I am at the coast I am always in the water and always have a healthy tan. Can’t stand white people!

I went scuba diving with tanks etc. a few weeks ago on one of the reefs in the Caribbean, I was diving a hundred feet down on the coral reef. It was a completely new experience, of course I have snorkelled a lot but this was something else! Tropical fish all colors, sponges, living plants that shrink from you when ones tries to touch. I got a little scared once when a Baracuda started circling near me for one can only ascend as slow as ones bubbles of air one breathes out. But it is an incredible experience and the water so transparent one can see fifty metres all around.

Also i have a T.V commercial on T.V here. It’s an animated commercial in colour for a Mexican Rum. With tropical trees, sugar cane, butterflies, birds and bongo music etc. But I blew the money I got paid for it on my trip to the States and West Indies.

So my plan now is to get some bread and fly down to Rio de Janeiro and work and once I get settled there I will take my first vacation to London. Providing there are no more bombs. I mean life is too beautiful.

Take care Tom and my best to Joan.

Regards to my brothers. Write me soon, ket me know how you are all doing. I will not be leaving for Brazil until April - I will keep you posted———David.
